LAURA TO JOIN CAST OF MAMMA MIA! AS TANYA for RCCL
Laura is thrilled to be beginning rehearsals for Royal Caribbean's Award Winning production of MAMMA MIA! aboard the Allure of the Seas, sailing from November 2023 - June 2024. She will take on the role of 'Tanya', popularised by Christine Baranski in the 2008 film of the same name.
LAURA TO JOIN 20TH ANNIVERSARY UK TOUR OF QUEEN AND BEN ELTON'S WE WILL ROCK YOU
Laura is delighted to be joining the UK Tour of WE WILL ROCK YOU in 2022.
Ben Elton will direct a new 20th anniversary production, opening in February. The musical originally premiered in 2002 at the Dominion Theatre in London and went on to become one of the longest-running musicals in West End history.
The musical features songs from Queen's back catalogue including "We Are The Champions", "Radio Ga Ga", "I Want To Break Free", "Somebody To Love", "Killer Queen", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Under Pressure", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Another One Bites The Dust" and "We Will Rock You".
THURSFORD CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR 2021 FEATURED ON BBC AND GERMANY'S ZDF
Laura is delighted to have made a return to Thursford Christmas Spectacular for the 2021 Winter Season as a featured soloist, with extracts of the show broadcast on BBC Breakfast and Germany's ZDF. The show is drawing record numbers post-pandemic and remains the largest show in Europe, with over 150 onstage cast and orchestra.
LAURA BEGINS REHEARSALS FOR AN EVENING WITH SIR TIM RICE
Laura is set to join the Seabourn Odyssey as part of their exclusive partnership with Sir Tim Rice, the acclaimed English musical theatre lyricist of Broadway, West End and film, winner of three Oscars, three Tonys, three Golden Globes and several Grammys. She will perform as a Lead Vocalist in his successful production, “An Evening with Tim Rice,” as well as several other shows on board, produced by Belinda King Creative Productions.
FIVE STAR REVIEWS FOR THURSFORD CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR
The Stage has awarded the 2019 Thursford Christmas Spectacular five stars. The review praised the return of the "extravagant and opulent" festive show, going on to say "highlights of this year’s line-up include... a silks aerial ballet performed to the Randy Crawford classic One Day I’ll Fly Away" - a solo sung by Laura in this year's lineup.
The show has also been featured in the BBC Travel show, and has received acclaim across local press.
LAURA SET TO JOIN EUROPE'S BIGGEST CHRISTMAS SHOW
Laura is delighted to be spending the festive season performing as a Mezzo Soprano in the 2019 cast of the annual Thursford Christmas Spectacular - the largest show of it's kind in Europe.
Thursford’s Christmas Spectacular has attracted over 5.7 million visitors to date with a cast of 120 professional singers, dancers and musicians. The three hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety.
LAURA TO JOIN GREASE CAST AS RIZZO FOR ROYAL CARIBBEAN PRODUCTIONS
Laura is delighted to be making her professional debut aboard the largest cruise ship in the world, the Harmony of the Seas, in the role of RIZZO in 'GREASE', directed by Tony Edge and cast by Stewart/Whitley. She will also perform in COLUMBUS the musical as a lead vocalist.
Laura will perform from January through to November 2018 and has already begun rehearsals in Miami at the Royal Caribbean Production Studios.
LAURA COMPLETES CBS 8 WEEK DANCE INTENSIVE
Laura is delighted to have completed 8 weeks of intensive dance training with CBS Dance, a course designed for professional musical theatre performers to bolster technique and improve pickup and audition skills.
Classes covered a number of different disciplines including Jazz, Ballet, Tap (both technique and performance), Swing/Charleston, Ballroom, Contemporary/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Historical Dance, Commercial/Hip Hop, Song & Dance and Pilates.
8 weeks culminated in a final showing with over 8 different pieces designed to cover the breadth of the learning on the course.
FIVE STAR REVIEWS for LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST
The recent Royal Academy of Music production of Love’s Labour’s Lost at the Hackney Empire has garnered excellent reviews and five-star ratings. Adapted from the Shakespeare by Alex Timbers and given a pop–rock score by Michael Friedman, it ran 29 June to 2 July at Hackney Empire, directed by Bruce Guthrie and choreographed by Steve Kirkham.
Christopher Wiley of Musical Theatre Review awarded the show five stars, writing: ‘Another standout was Laura Bird as the maid Jaquenetta, one of several roles bolstered from Shakespeare’s original, who offered much beautifully heartfelt singing..’
Nick Breckenfield of Classical Source also awarded five stars and wrote: ‘Laura Bird’s more lowly Jaquenetta makes her mark in one of the great songs from the show, ‘Love’s a Gun’
